Happy Father's Day

Visitor

Yesterday when Hayden and I were out for a walk we were approached by this precious little pooch:

She had no collar or tags, but seemed very friendly and had fun playing with Hayden.  I didn't want to leave her out in the street and she seemed bent on following us anyway, so Hayden hopped on his tricycle and we headed home.  She followed us into the yard and spent the afternoon with us...

I posted some fliers around the neighborhood and we gave her some chicken to eat.  That night we made her a little bed with some towels inside a plastic bin on its side.  She curled up and went right to sleep.  This morning when Matt went to check on her, however, she was gone.  She was so tiny that its likely she even slipped under the gate of our fence.  Hopefully she found her way home somehow!

A-Hiking We Will Go...

Last weekend after church on Boise we checked out a new park, Camel's Back park that had some small trails over some hills that overlooked the city.  Nothing too strenuous these days :)  We all highly enjoyed the hike and Hayden had fun playing at the park afterwards.
Just a few pictures of our "adventure"...

Who Says You Can't Get a Tan in Idaho?

After Hayden's VERY long nap Saturday afternoon, we headed out to find a spot to play by the lake.  While it was warm enough for Hayden to wear his bathing suit and Matt and I to be in shorts and t-shorts, the water was COLD so we limited our play to the sand.
No complaints from this guy:

Matt attempted to cross to the other side with Hayden:

Here's how that turned out:

Being on the beach looking at snow in the Mountains was definitely a new experience for us, and we had a great time walking along the shoreline splashing in the water.

"Cheese:"

"Pizza:"

35 weeks!

I was walking along the ridge of sand when (as would be expected by a person with a normal attention span) it collapsed out from under me and I went sliding on my bum.  This may have happened twice.  The second time I was able to capture Matt's reaction on camera:

You may think "my, she must have some quick reflexes for a pregnant lady."  Nay, he was just laughing for that long.  Boy is he lucky he married someone with a sense of humor.

Hayden and Matt spent quite a while digging a trench.  (What is it with boys and digging???)

Hayden missed the point at first...

Eventually he caught on :)

We ate dinner at the lodge that night, got one picture on the patio overlooking the course.  Hayden chose not to participate in this one.

The next day we visited Gold Fork hot springs.  It was fabulous!  Matt and I had been there one year in March when we were still surrounded by snow and it was freezing.  While that was a fun experience, too, this was much more my speed:

Vacation Part 2

The second day of our vacation consisted of a second round of golf, but this time we all went out as a family and it was a lot of fun.  The course was beautiful, the weather was perfect and we were in good company; Matt was playing with a friend and his wife came along for the ride as well.  Jay is retired and his wife is close to retiring, and Hayden thought they were the greatest thing next to his grandparents back in Florida.  He started chatting up Sylvia as soon as we got out there and before long, he was riding in their cart from hole to hole.  He stayed with them for most of the round.

Like I said, the scenery was beautiful and I enjoyed being along for the ride, although the course was lacking sufficient restrooms for a (very) pregnant lady!  Bumpy golf carts do not make the most preferred mode of transportation at this point.

Hayden enjoyed running around and skipping on the golf course while Jay and Matt were playing...

...and climbing on the rocks.

What little boy doesn't love digging in the sand?  Unfortunately, this little boy's mommy forgot about the rule of raking over any marks made in the bunkers.  Hayden had been all over that thing by the time we were ready to move on.  Sorry about that one, honey.  We henceforth had a no playing in the sand rule.

We were following a wild coyote for a few holes, which was fun to watch:

Hayden's new driver was in Matt's bag and he took a few of his own shots while play was slow.

Hayden ended up "driving" Jay and Sylvia's golf cart for most of the round.  It's a good thing they are so sweet and have grandkids of their own already!

After the round we had lunch with Jay and Sylvia.  Hayden was so tired that after a couple of bites he curled up over my big belly and somehow managed to get comfortable enough to fall asleep.  He stayed sound asleep through the whole lunch, we carried him up to the room and put him to bed and he slept two more hours!  Next to his dinosaurs that he had carefully lined up the night before, of course.
