The Big Reveal!

Yesterday was my 20 week ultrasound and by now most everyone has probably heard the exciting news: It's a girl!  Both Matt and I could be quoted as having said we were hoping for two boys, and I even would joke that "I don't make girls," but we could not be more excited.  I came home immediately after the appointment and purchased my first pieces of tiny pink things (with ruffles!) from oldnavy.com.

The appointment was very exciting.  Matt was not able to be at the 20 week ultrasound for Hayden so I was excited for him to see it.  Hayden was also able to join us and although he did watch the screen intently for a while the novelty wore off and he was tired by the end of the hour.  He did great, though and was very excited to get the news.  He seemed a bit hesitant at first, especially since he has been talking about his "little brother" for the past few months but he caught on fairly quickly.

The baby was moving around A LOT.  So much that the ultrasound tech had a difficult time getting all of the images that she needed.  Watching the screen we would see her face and then all of a sudden it was her spine.  And when the tech was trying to show us the "gender shot" the baby would be on one side of the screen one second and on the other side the next.  It was fun to watch but unfortunately did not yield the best images.  Here are just a few, followed by a very short video clip that she gave us, which shows some movement but also gives a better look at her profile.

Like I said, Hayden was very excited to learn that it is a girl.  Here he is talking about his little sister after we got home:

Valentine's Day 2011

The beginning of last week, as well as the weekend prior, was pretty busy for Matt.  He was busy along with the rest of the base getting ready for a major inspection that took place on Monday and Tuesday.  It wasn't too big of a deal since we do not go too crazy for Valentine's Day anyway, but we still wanted to fit in some festivities for the holiday.  On Monday Hayden and I gathered our V-Day cards for Matt (Hayden had made one for Matt) went through the McDonald's drive-thru to pick up a yogurt parfait for Matt and headed to the base to surprise him.  As suspected, things were extremely busy and we stayed for about two minutes before being shooed out by the hustle and bustle.  Luckily, a friend of ours who lives on base invited us over to play so that was fun and made the trip worth it.  Also luckily, Matt had a parfait to eat because he did not get a break to eat until 4:00 that afternoon.

Matt finally made it home around 7:00 with V-day cards for both Hayden and I.  A nice surprise since I knew he had very little time to go get them.  Hayden was thrilled to get something from Matt.

We sat down to a late dinner and rushed through so that we could move on to decorating our heart-shaped sugar cookies.  We spent just a few minutes doing that before we started H's bed time routine.  A rushed celebration, but at least we fit it in!

The next day the inspection was finally over and the "unofficial" report is that the whole base did extremely well.  A relief considering they spent months getting ready and this inspection only comes around once every four years or so.  Thankfully, things have slowed down since then and we are enjoying a three day weekend now.

In other news, Hayden's bed time and night time sleep issues were holding strong since my last post.  We finally decided to stop letting him nap during the day and that has helped significantly.  Still waking us up at night sometimes (I guess the monsters-in-the-closet phase starts about now) but we are hoping to get through that soon.

Tomorrow is my 20 week ultrasound and hopefully we will find out if we are having a boy or a girl.  We are so excited!  Stay tuned to find out!

Belly Pics

This past Sunday I hit 17 weeks pregnant, so I had Matt take a few pictures.  Please excuse the dark circles under my eyes as the THREE YEAR-OLD who is acting so cutely in some of the pictures has not been sleeping through the night for about a month and a half.  Apparently this is a phase that many kids around his age go through and, like all phases, eventually passes.  He did sleep all night last night so here is hoping that is the new trend.
I included some "extras" because I thought Hayden was funny in some of the pictures.  Enjoy :)
